The month of independence celebration may be coming to an end, but the journey to the #NewPH continues. In this journey, every Filipino has a role to play.

#NewPH Architects, Designers, and Artists take the lead in advocating for more sustainable, quality and environmentally friendly structures in the country. Get to know the notable personalities and their background, to better appreciate the true essence of Filipino Designs – designing for the needs of Filipinos and continuously elevating the existing national design standards.

#NewPH Ar. Ed Calma

Architect Ed Calma has been one of the most sought-after architects in the Philippines. He is a graduate of Pratt Institute and Columbia University School of Architecture in New York. Though following the footsteps of his father in the field of architecture, he has successfully established his own mark in the industry with Eduardo Calma Architecture & Interior Design. As one of the Country’s pioneers of modern architecture, Architect Calma has truly set the precedence in innovating open floor plan concepts, setting him apart from many designers today.

#NewPH Ar. Jason Buensalido

Growing up, Ar. Jason Buensalido had a wide range of interest in art like painting, drawing, fashion, and comics. From industrial drafting, he found his passion for drawing that eventually lead him to take up architecture in UST, and afterwhich – a course in Urban Geographies under the Architectural Association Global School in Singapore. In 2006, Buensalido + Architects was established – with a design style that embodied the concept of modernizing filipino Architecture.

#NewPH Ar. Gelo Manosa

Ar. Gelo Manosa started his career early at Francisco Manosa and Partners. From Junior Architect, he then became a Senior Associate and MIS Head. While his father, Francisco Manosa is well known for Philippine Aesthetic and Traditions, Ar. Gelo Manosa has continued the legacy of his father by further advocating for green buildings in the Philippines. He is a strong supporter of incorporating sustainability in design. Now, Manosa leads Manosa & Co as CEO, travelling the world to look into sustainable structures and related best practices.

#NewPH Ar. Paul Pena

Though Ar. Paul Pena’s impressive working relationship with his father is known to many, his career did not start under the firm established by his father Mike Pena. Ar. Paul Pena started his career working for a multinational company – and eventually moved to work for his father when he passed the National Board Exam for Architecture. Today, Pena aims to expand the family business, Fitnesscape Creative Studio and focus on mid-to-high residential structures while promoting Filipinism through Modern Philippine Designs.

#NewPH Ar. Anthony Nazareno

Another Master of modernized filipino Architecture, Ar Nazareno was a graduate of the California College of the Arts. He started his design career in San Francisco with celebrated modernist architect Jim Jennings. He later joined Li-Saltzman, a leading New York architecture firm specializing in the preservation and conservation of landmark architecture. Today he and his team at NGDC continue to work on projects globally using unique and efficient solutions in Architecture and Interior Design.

#NewPH Ar. Denise De Castro

Ar. Denise De Castro took her interdepartmental liberal arts courses at Wellesley College, and eventually got technical courses at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She moved forward by taking up her masters at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. Now, Castro runs her firm, DEQA Design Collaborative, becoming one of the admirable women of Architecture.

#NewPH IDr. Ivy and Cynthia Almario

IDr. Ivy and Cynthia Almario paved their mark to be country’s dynamic duo in the interior design industry. After an extensive 15 years of experience in Los Angeles, Atelier Almario was established to cater to the Philippine Market. The tandem of Ivy and Cynthia has gained several commendations from clients and the designers’ community for their exquisite taste and flawless execution of elegance timelessly among their projects.

#NewPH IDr. Cyndi Beltran

IDr. Cyndi Beltran is a Parsons School of Design Graduate for continuing education in Design & Management. Prior to this, Beltran accomplished her degree in Interior Design in University of Santo Tomas, Manila. She is known in the industry as a visionare, the woman behind the brand Moss Manila Interior+ Events design House which created magnificent fashion events with clients  such as Hermes, Bvlgari and Cartier. Beltran is yet again another outstanding Filipina Professional that shows her creativity through her new platform with “Mr. and Mrs. B” shown in you Youtube showcasing her work as a designer.

#NewPH Jinggoy Buensuceso

Jinggoy Buensuceso is one of the most inspiring artist stories ever featured here. Coming from a history of making knuckledusters for a gang in the province to being a successful visual artist and well-known sculpture in the Philippines. His artwork tells memorable stories of oneself, culture, and lifestyle. His style is manifested through clean lines and organic forms. His expertise includes working with metal, wood, and cement.

#NewPH Ar. Manolet Garcia

Ar. Manolet Garcia is a regular host for BluPrint Conversations segment. In 1995, Garcia established his firm Manolet Garcia Architects which worked on residential, commercial, and institutional projects. Garcia was also a member of the academe, three years prior to the establishment of his firm. He was a lecturer in the Philippine School of Interior Design, and DLS-CSB. In 2016, he continued to showcase Filipino Excellence through his satellite offices in Singapore, Penang, and Malaysia.
