BEE’AH Headquarters: A Dune-Shaped Sustainable Masterpiece By Zaha Hadid Architects
The BEEAH Group collaborated with Zaha Hadid Architects for their Bee’ah Headquarters in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The breathtaking structure is one of the last buildings the late Zaha Hadid designed before she passed away last 2016 with her partner Patrik Schumacher and opened its doors on March 30, 2022. Formed like interlocked dunes, it takes the shape of the Al Sajaa desert in which it is located. The massive 9000 square meter structure houses the group’s management and administrative offices. With the aesthetic and functionality of the building, the team aims to lay a new standard for future work areas.

A solar array connected to Tesla battery packs guarantees the building’s energy requirement day in and out. The headquarters meet the LEED Platinum standards and gears toward net-zero emissions.
The Bee’ah HQ
Clad in glass fiber-reinforced concrete, the Bee’ah Headquarter’s concave form functions as protection from the severe weather conditions the location poses. Inside is a smart building management system that adjusts the lighting and temperature relative to time and occupancy. On top of that, there is an on-site water treatment facility that filters wastewater to curb consumption.
There are two wings in the Bee’ah Headquarters. One is for the public and management departments. The second houses the administrative zone. The central courtyard, called the oasis within the building, connects the two wings. The 15-meter high domed foyer is what ZHA considers the highlight of the interior. Its design allows natural light in the building as well as aid natural ventilation.
Contactless pathways and a companion app for their everyday task enhance the employee experience. At length, the headquarters also has a virtual concierge, smart meeting rooms, and an auditorium.
