From Easel to Screen: Van Gogh Alive Comes to Manila

Granted with an exclusive preview of this much-awaited multi-sensory exhibit, here’s what you can expect from the Manila edition of the Van Gogh Alive experience.

Grande Exhibitions presents the artworks of the legendary Vincent Van Gogh using Sensory4, a system that combines motion graphics and digital surround sound. Managing Director of Bonifacio Art Foundation Maribel Garcia shared that the same 3,000 artworks featured in international editions of Van Gogh Alive will be shown in the Manila exhibit. “The treatment just differs because the configuration is sometimes different,” she shares.

Van Gogh Alive in Manila is housed in an intimate 600 sqm area, with a physical set-up of Van Gogh’s iconic painting “Bedroom in Arles,” and a selection of his most celebrated paintings in the entrance, presaging the visual delights that await inside the main exhibit.

Inside the sensory room, a series of paintings classified by the location of its creation is projected into screens, forming passageways and corners for visitors to explore. Van Gogh’s beguiling oeuvre then comes to life and swirls and splashes on to multiple screens, telling the story of a gifted artist who pushed to create despite the apparent indifference of the world around him. Today, he is among the most celebrated artists around the world, his works and colorful life story continuing to entrance and inspire art aficionados and fans alike.

Van Gogh Alive opens today at the 4th level of One Bonifacio High Street, from October 26 until December 8, 2019.
