Ongoing Donation Drives for Affected Areas of Typhoon Odette

When super Typhoon Odette (international name: Rai) entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) last December 14, strong winds have caused roofs to blown away and rainfall to enter into houses that triggered mass evacuations in Cebu, Southern Leyte, Bohol, Misamis Oriental, Surigao del Sur, Negros Occidental, and Negros Oriental, among others.

Families have lost their homes, livelihood and belongings. Municipalities had to give the devastating news that electricity might not be restored fully by Christmas time. It is heartbreaking to watch the news these days, although help is continuing to pour out from our generous fellow Filipinos. No amount is too small if you have the means to donate. Here are reputable organizations that are currently at work to help the victims of typhoon Odette, accepting monetary and in-kind donations:

Philippine Red Cross

The Philippine Red Cross deployed rescue vehicles and a team of volunteers to the affected areas of Typhoon Odette. The organization has called for an emergency appeal to aid those evacuated and are continuing to reach devastated areas.

Ateneo de Manila University

The Ateneo de Manila University is accepting cash donations to provide food for communities affected by the typhoon. Here’s how you can help:

The University of St. La Salle Bacolod

In-kind donations may be dropped off at the USLS Gate 2 starting December 17. The University of St. La Salle (USLS) Bacolod is accepting food (rice, canned goods, biscuits, coffee, energen, etc.) and non-food items (Sleeping bags, blankets, towels, hygiene kits, medical kits, diapers for kids, etc.)

UPLB Agapay

University of the Philippines Los Baños Agapay, in partnership with UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod and Serve the People Brigade-UPLB, is accepting in-kind and monetary donations for typhoon-affected communities.

Ayala Foundation

Ayala Foundation is accepting cash donations to help communities affected by the typhoon. Interested donors may donate through their website, GCash, and BPI.

Caritas Manila

Caritas Manila, through its Caritas Damayan program, is accepting cash donations to help its member-churches to provide immediate needs to affected families.

Lingap Gabriela

Those interested to help may drop off in-kind donations at #57 P. Burgos St., Barangay Marilag, Quezon City, or #35 Scout Delgado St., Barangay Laging Handa, Quezon City.

The Gabriela party list and Lingap Gabriela are also calling for cash donations and volunteers.

Tulong Kabataan Network

Tulong Kabataan, a relief and rehabilitation network initiated by the Kabataan Partylist, is calling for donations for affected residents in the Visayas and Mindanao. It is working in partnership with the University of the Philippines Diliman University Student Council (UPD USC).

Interested users may send monetary donations to GCash’s partner organizations that are leading relief operations by scanning the GCashGivesBack QR code or sending donation through the Pay Bills #GCashGivesBack wallet.

World Vision Philippines

World Vision Philippines is calling for emergency aid to help families affected by Typhoon Odette.
