It was October 2020 when the United Architects of the Philippines launched its first-ever virtual conference, the NCA 2020: PAGBANGON, after several years of inactivity for such conference. It was a call for Filipino architects to continue to aspire and thrive despite the challenging times. This year, 2021, as the world is still amid a pandemic, the NCA 2021 will be held via a hybrid type of program. Select UAP National Officers and the Organizing Committee or ORCOM, will be attending the activity in-person to deliver more cohesive program management, coordination, and execution while the rest of the participants will be on a virtual platform.
The title “PAGTINDIG” of this year’s National Conference of Architects aims to inspire, elevate the level of preparedness, and further equip Filipino architects as the nation continues to face challenges and transitions. This title pertains to two things. First, is PAGTINDIG in ADVOCACY of championing the spirit of “Bayanihan Among Architects” amidst the pandemic, and second is PAGTINDIG in ARCHITECTURE in response to the threats of today’s situation. In line with these, the National Conference of Architects’ theme is “Tindig Arkitekto: Matikas na Pagharap sa Hamon ng Tansisyon.”
NCA 2021: PAGTINDIG will be held on October 15-16, 2021. A Day 0 on October 14, 2021, will be on board for the UAP Program Protocols: Chapter Presidents’ Assembly in the morning where there will be a presentation of National Awards Guidelines and College of Fellows Guidelines, and the National Board of Directors’ Meeting in the afternoon. The Conference Program is divided into four (4) clusters; Opening Ceremonies (Day 1 AM Session), Consultative Meetings (Day 1 PM Session), CPD Webinars (Day 2 AM Session), and PAGTINDIG Programs (Day 2 PM Session) PLUS the Welcome and Fellowship Nights.
The UAP also envisioned strengthening the intents and purposes of the NCA 2021 by injecting pre-conference CSR programs and activities to respond and be able to help to the urgent needs of the society in today’s situation and also to fulfill the organization’s social responsibility. Also, the conference intends to comprehensively feature the nobility of the architecture profession in so many facets of service including a legacy in reference to 100 years of the profession.
According to Architect Ludivico Pascual Idaño, National Conference of Architects 2021 PAGTINDIG Conference Director, “This conference aims to motivate, inspire architects by fellow architects’ success stories amidst the pandemic, and also to further equip architects as we get ready to face the new challenges of the transition. Ultimately, the goal is to make this NCA 2021 not only a success but of significant value as well, not only to the architects but also to the communities, making a difference.”
