Hermès rediscovers the traditional technique of chromolithography to create bright, bold colors on porcelain pieces that can be mixed and matched for countless parties and personal celebrations. The lively equine motifs gallop across dishes, cups, cake platters, and teapots, introducing a fun and playful mood at the teatime table. A unique feature of the decorative technique is a shimmering effect that accentuates fine details.

“The Hermès Hippomobile Set is a bright and playful tea service, whose pieces can be freely combined: a horse wraps around the teapot, another stretches over three plates, a motif sneaks up inside a cup… On a whim, you can easily mix and match the designs for every occasion: breakfast, morning coffee or high tea. “

Hermès, Paris

Each piece was designed by Italian artist Gianpaolo Pagni, who was inspired by jockey silks and the world of cartoons. The design extends the original Hermès’ journey as a harness maker before traveling the Silk Road. Pagni joins the Hermès tradition as an illustrator and colorist, telling stories on porcelain. “I imagined a horse with a long back, which would fit several riders. A kind of horse-limousine,“ says Pagni. This conception of an elongated horse stretches across the pieces of the Hippomobile collection – a perfect excuse to grab a complete set.
