Zara Home released a collaborative home collection with Belgian architect and designer Vincent Van Duysen. The Zara Home + Vincent Van Duysen collection series’s first part, released June 30th 2022, focuses on intricate living room pieces that reflect the designer’s philosophy and journey in decorating his own Antwerp homes. Clean lines, geometry, neutral tones, and natural materials like wood, stone, and linen characterize the timeless collection. His designs are frequently curated for private clients or a part of exclusive luxury collections, and this will be the first time his pieces will be available on a mass and global scale.

‘I am democratic, heart and soul. And I love the philosophy, the attitude, and the positioning of Zara in the world to make beautiful things accessible for any of us. I wanted to see what that would look like for my furniture.’

Zara Home + Vincent Van Duysen living room pieces include chairs, sofas, tables, desks, consoles, lighting, ceramics, and textiles. Each design expresses maturity and timelessness, featuring generous forms and simple silhouettes meant to fit any room. The designer explains, ‘It’s about everyday spaces, what people live with, how they approach the pieces they love.’

British upholstered seating or ‘archetypal comfortable sofa’ inspired the design of the sofas and armchairs cushioned in either bouclé textile or neutral linen. Van Duysen’s taste in chunky interiors is evident in the oak tables. Side tables are available in Campaspero Limestone, a stone unique to central Spain in a natural, elegant beige color. It has fossils in its mineral composition, making each piece connected to history. Moreover, references to the designs of Alvar Aalto, Jean-Michel Frank, and Luis Barragán can be seen in the collection.

This collaboration interestingly sprouted from Marta Ortega’s, chair of Zara’s parent company Inditex, visit to Van Duysen’s home in Antwerp. Ortega’s invitation to have the architect upgrade Zara’s home brand was immediately accepted, “I didn’t have to reflect too much for too long. I turned 60 in April, so it was the right time to introspect on my work and who I am, trying to find my DNA. So I looked back and seriously reflected on my past works.”

This collaboration allows elegant and timeless designer pieces to be part of one’s home. The second installment of curated pieces is set to be released in October 2022.

The collection Zara Home + Vincent Van Duysen is available worldwide from 30 June 2022.
